Ned. E. Barlas maintains a diverse intellectual property (IP) and corporate practice. He represents clients ranging from start-ups to multinational corporations, in structuring and negotiating corporate, commercial and IP transactions, strategic IP counseling and global trademark protection.
Before joining Semanoff Ormsby Greenberg & Torchia, LLC, Ned spent 15 years as an attorney with a prestigious international law firm in its Philadelphia and New York offices. Ned has also served several in-house counsel roles, including as senior vice president and general counsel of a publicly held software company.
Ned is active in various local, legal and community organizations. He has served as a volunteer child advocate for the Support Center for Child Advocates and has also counseled numerous non-profit organizations in connection with strategic transactions. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar and has been selected by Intellectual Asset Management (IAM) for the 2017 and 2018 editions of IAM Strategy 300, a publication featuring the world’s top IP strategists.
Ned received his J.D. in 1990 from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where he served as comment editor of the University of Pennsylvania Law Review. He received his B.A. in economics from Swarthmore College in 1985.
